The Cult of 8 is a group of people dedicated to the task that Demi has laid out for them, the breaking of the Spires and the reformation of the Golden Age. They have two main adversaries, The order of 4 tries to fuck with them, by not believing in the spires. They look down at the cult of 9 but do not deem it as a threat. The Cult of 8 wears special coloured outfits made from fine linens, they have special traditions to mark significant events. Most of them live in villages near the spires, but some live in the centers of sides and preach the truth of 8 to the masses too far away to feel the purity of the spires or even see them properly.

Beliefs:

  • 8 is gr8
  • demi is kinda cool
  • fdgf, mfgfg, bjhfg (an ancient phrase no one has been able to translate)

Traditions:

  • Annual spire pilgrimage where junior cultists travel along the spires to the demi Demi.
  • There are 8 days of the year when they celebrate, eat 8 shaped pretzels and have a special dinner with 8 courses. They also treat these 8 days as one week, so their calendar keeps getting more out of sync, which is really annoying if you want to make an appointment with them.
  • Each town has a clothing factory where they make their clothes and they have different colors for each face, depending on the particular face. Shards of the spires mined from the pure areas are woven in like beads, the higher the purity the more valuable as the purest bit of the spire is the tip, which is very small and in limited supply.
  • They wear an amulet made from a perfect octagon, a scale shed from the spire. They receive this amulet upon their first pilgrimage.
  • They are always found in groups of 8, and collect in larger groups that are thus multiples of 8.

Holy 8th Prayer (performed at 8 o clock daily)

Praise be to Demi, praise be unto him

The Holy number 8, for it exists afore

8 is for fate, and life and limb

We sing this praise, from times of yore

The holiness of 8, and it's immense credit

Jubilant and divine chorus, ensnared and in rapture

The Cult of 8, shall never suffer demerit

It combines us all, we revel in capture
