The Nzoha are an almost extinct species in the Dwaia foodchain. They inhabit The Deep Bogh and the First Plane, though abandoned nests and skeletons of the beasts have been found further away from their usual habitats. While commonly known as "Rat-men", they are not genetically related to humans, despite the appearence of a human upper body. They also do not speak, but instead make rat noises at each other. The source of these noises is unknown, as the Nzoha lack a mouth (or even a fucking head). The Nzoha have human-compatible organs for transplantation, and their luminous quartz heads make for excellent lamps. As a result, they have been rampantly and extensively hunted over the past few centuries, leading to their near-extinction. Because of this the Nzoha have become a kind of urban legend, since most people will never see one in their entire life.

Dwaian archaeologists have discovered that the Nzoha might have been used as slaves in an earlier time, due to their inability to speak, low intelligence and muscle. Plus, since they technically are not people, they are legal. :)

The Urban Legend

The legend of the Ratman goes that if children do not behave nicely, the Ratman will visit their house and eat all the wooden furniture, and then the cheese. Afterwards, it will steal the face skin of the misbehaving child and wear it over its quartz head, transforming it into the child.
