Ossean (language)

Ossean is the language of all Skeletal beings. Unlike most other languages where the speaker has only one organ to communicate with, Ossean can be spoken by rattling any and all bodily bones to create different sounds, words and sentences. Ossean has many similarities to a vocal language. It has a very broad vocabulary (or bonecabulary if you will,) complex grammar structure, and all that other stuff that languages have. Another similarity is that it has dialects and accents - these are influenced by which particular bones a Skeletal may use, how exactly they use them, and what species that Skeletal is a member of. Ossean is also known as Bonespeak, although nobody really calls it that anymore.

Despite the general unseriousness surrounding skeletons, Ossean is one of the more complex and sophisticated languages on Dwaia: for example, it has over 100 spooktillion synonyms of the word "bone."
Skeletons are able to learn the other languages of Dwaia even though they do not have tongues or vocal cords. This is commonly done by manifesting sounds through bone magic.
