Tales of Yestersmell is a collection of short stories written by Bogolandian author John R. R. Bogo, in an attempt to explain the culture of the Bogobins to the world at large. It is notable for being written entirely in the smell'th person. It was published in written form, as an audio play, and as a "scratch-and-sniff" book. The anime adaptation is slated to release on Tuesday[which????], and will use revolutionary smellovision technology.

Plot summary

Story one, Smells of Home

The story begins by smelling about a couple common morning items, such as dew, breakfast, and specialized plant hologram manure. It then progresses into the smell of rubber tires and leather seats, as well as putrid trash-fuel fumes. Then, smells representing several leisure activities are introduced: the smell of scumburgers, the smell of sweat and tennis balls, the smell of holographic forests with very realistically described cow emissions. Finally, after more car smells, the story concludes with the smell of burning fireplace trash and hot chocolate with chipped cream.

Story two, Smells of Hope

A gentle waft of morning air, the scent of grass perspiring with dew, a fresh nostriliferous experience. The leathery musk of boots, later compounded by that of a horse and saddle. A flurry of fragrances from the wild, the aromas of pine trees and oxen. Then, a blooming odor of flowers and fruits, carried on the misty whiff of a nearby waterfall. The flair of a fair perfume. The smell of good food and ale and warm fires. The scent of a clean woolen bed.

Story three, Smells of Heck

The story starts of right away with strong smells of blood and fire filling the air. At first the smell is described as possibly a barbecue, but as the smells continue it becomes clear we are smelling a burning village, the searing meat being that of people. As the smeller smells around, we stumble upon the smell of moisture. For a moment there is no smell at all, as if through adrenaline, then there is the sensation of water filling the nostrils. This proceeds for a couple pages, until the smell of water fades, and more fire is smelled, this time fainter. As the smell of ash and burnt plants fade in, the smell of burning disappears. Finally the smell of mushrooms approaches, gets really close, and then everysmell fades to smack (the smell version of black).
