Dune dogs ((sand + dog) * time + heat) are the result of long-term inbreeding between the everyday domesticated housedog and bushy-tailed jirds. Traditionally dune dogs were kept as pets by normadic Golbi Empire residents to keep away small pests from their camps, bought and brought from first plane farmers. Eventually they integrated into the sparse ecosystem of the Golbi dunes. With no natural predators, dune dogs are considered an invasive species, but nobody has the heart to put them down or drive them out of the Golbi dunes.
