Elements are the indivisible parts from which the universe of Dwaia is built. There are 6 Classes of elements: Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Energy and Bo. Earth is the base for all that is solid and immobile. Water is the base for flexible and fluid things. Air is the base for gases and fumes. Fire is the base for spicy and therefore glowy things. Energy is the source of motion and change. Bo is the source of sentience and free will. All these classes combine together to form life and the world.

The elements are indivisible. This means that they cannot be broken apart or otherwise destroyed, unless they are annihilated with their anti-element. Equally, the creation of an element requires the creation of an equal amount of its anti-element. To clarify, because Harambe is an element, Harambe cannot be destroyed without creating an anti-Harambe first. However creating an anti-Harambe involves creating a Harambe as well. Thus the Harambe Equivalence Constant or HEC (The number of Harambes in existence minus the number of anti-Harambes) is, as its name implies, a constant. This is called the principle of Equivalent Exchange.

All things on Dwaia are composed of elements, including all life. Weaker entities usually have basic elements, while stronger, more ascended entities contain (or are themselves) advanced elements.

The purest elements are found at the Spires, which are made from the ultimate forms of the elements and exude an energy over their respective face of Dwaia based on that element. This energy is what gives each face of Dwaia its distinctive environment.

Source of the elements
 +
Given the notion of fundamentality and the Principle of Equivalent Exchange, Science generally accepts that the elements are primordial. However, alternative theories are a common theme in religion. One example is the Cult of 8, in which it's believed that all elements are constantly generated by structures known as Spires that are made from the ultimate-aspected forms. They exude an energy over their respective face of Dwaia based on that element, giving each face of Dwaia its distinctive environment. However, all falsifiable attempts to observe a spire have failed, and they remain documented only by word-of-mouth in the testimonies of cult members.

Many low-level creatures and objects are made of the Base elements. Since low-level creatures make up around 99% of all creatures, these elements are very important, though they're not as powerful as their Advanced or Ascended forms. There are six Base elements:

There are 6 Base Elements: Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Energy and Bo. Earth is the base for all that is solid and fundamental. Water is the base for all that is greatly flexible and liquid. Air is the base for gases, fumes, and invisible force. Fire is the base for spicy and also glowy things. Energy is the source of motion and change. Bo is the source of sentience and free will. All of these classes combine and interact to form life and the world.

Aspects
Aspects
An aspect is an aura that a base element is imbued with in order to change its basic properties. A pure element can only take on a single aspect, but combination elements can take on as many aspects as there are distinct elements in the compound. Aspects can only exist with elements to act on, and cannot exist independently. There are six aspects, which means seven possible states for each element. Aspects are divided into two subgroups: The Cardinal Aspects: Death, Life, Regression, and Progression — and the Vertical Aspects: Ascension, and Ultimatum.
+
An Aspect is a primordial substance which near-solely exists to modify an element, decaying otherwise. Aspects were once thought to ignore the Principle of Equivalent Exchange, having been observed to spontaneously both decay and form to and from pure light. However, it was later discovered that the rate at which Aspects form from light is directly determined by the amount of Aspects already present in the world. It has also been shown that the relative intensity of light on a particular location only affects the likelihood of an Aspect's location to be there when it forms, and that the local intensity of light has no bearing on its actual chance to form.

The six aspects are:

Death
Life
Regression
+
Bonding
 +
Any base element can bond with any Aspect, altering that element's fundamental properties. Each element has room to bond with exactly one aspect, so that the ratio of elements to aspects within any compound can never exceed 1:1. Aspects hardly exist outside of being a quality of elements, since their desire to bond makes them highly reactive. Furthermore, any aspect which does not bond with an element in due time will undergo fundamental decay and dissolve into pure light.

Progression
+
Aspects can, however, be magically or alchemically transmuted off of one base element and onto another. Earth's high stability often makes its aspected elements into a convenient fuel for these transmutative processes. The only exceptions to this are Plant matter, which rapidly decays into Trash after death, and Harambium, which is an absolute bitch to break down. There are six aspects, leading to a total of seven possible states for each element.

Ascension
+
It is hypothetically theorized that under certain specific conditions, an aspect's trait of fundamental decay can be negated, allowing it to persist indefinitely. However, actually replicating these conditions has yet to be achieved. The effort is ongoing, and its feasibility remains an unanswered question in the scientific community.

There are two major systems for notating the elements. The first is a newer, unified science-based system, which is widely preferred in the studies; The other is much older, formed alongside the original elemental science: alchemy. The latter system is known as alchemical or traditional notation, and is no longer used in science or in the actual practice of alchemy. However, traditional notation remains in use in less rigorous contexts, such as in representing the planes of Dwaia.

To get the scientific symbol for an element, affix the symbol of its Base element with the symbol of its row (its Aspect). For example, the symbol for Pomf is Ae⧺ (pronounced variously as "air ascended" "ayy plus plus" or "ayy peepee"), because it lies in the Ascended row and on the Air column.

Advanced elements
Personality
"Advanced elements" is an umbrella term for Cross elements, as well as elements imbued with Death, Life, Regression, Progression, Ascension, and Ultimatum aspects.
+
tbd

Cross elements also known as Compounds are elements that result from one base element being combined with another. The first element forms the base, and the second element shapes and alters the base into a more advanced form by absorbing it. Cross elements, as well as Base elements can all be imbued with aspects.

Death elements, also called Spooky elements, are Base elements that have been warped into a ghastly form through a process called spookification. This imbues them with the death aspect. They can be de-spookified to return them back to their original form, though both processes are quite difficult to execute.

Life elements, also called Nature elements, are similar yet opposite to Death elements. They are produced from Base elements through naturalization, and can be undone through denaturalization, applying or removing the life aspect. Sentient entities can consist from Life or Death elements, but things go wrong when Life and Death mix.

Regression elements, also known as Trash elements, are Base elements that have been trashified, imbuing them with the regression aspect.

Progression elements, also known as Tech elements, are Base elements that have been technolized, imbuing them with the progression aspect.

Ascended elements are elements that exist on a distinct level of power from their simpler forms, and have acquired the ascension aspect. They cannot simply be created from those lower forms, instead usually requiring a long and arduous process to make them more efficient in a way. You need to give a lot of power to a piece of earth to make steel (Ascended earth), because steel is more efficient at being strong.

Ultimate elements are extremely rare and valuable, being the most powerful state of their respective element, infused with the highly powerful and fickle ultimatum aspect. They must either be mined from the spires, or created from an incredibly complex and difficult feat of magic or technology (maybe even both).

A list of some common advanced and cross elements follows:

Car Parts, not to be confused with Trash, are elements found in either trailer parks or dumping grounds. Car Part element entities include:

* Car

Cosmic Dust: Absolute fecal matter

Goop is a type of water-based slime. Unless you add flavor or smell, it is pretty bland. Goop entities include:

* Blobman

Skateboards is an advanced element. A combination of earth and air. Skateboard element entities include:

* Cool Kids

Knawledge is the Progression form of the Base element Energy, and is a fundamental part to almost all modern technology. Knawledge can be used on a thing to understand it better if you are having trouble with it. Knawledge elements include:

* Phones

* Tabloids

* Computers

Trash is found around the same area Car Parts are found, as well as in people's garbage bins, and in the common trash can. It is the Regression of Earth. Trash element entities include:

* Bogobin

The Slavic element of Vodka is an advanced water-based element. It is the Ascended form of the Cross element of Soup, which crosses Fire onto the base element of Water. Its effects upon consumption vary from person to person. Some of these include: A want to listen to hardbass, drunkness (Or reverse-soberness), sudden Slavic accent, a case of the stumbles and death. Vodka element entities include:

* Slav

Ultimate Forms
Succ
Succ is the ultimate reverse apex form of the base air element. It was discovered when Spatakiller first delved into the core mechanisms of Floaty Cro Place. The first title he gave this substance was "Reverse-Blow" but he was hit over the head for being stupid and it was then named Succ instead. In any case, he found out that Succ was the main source of the floatiness of Floaty Cro Place.

Succ element entities include:

* Queen Cro

The Cardinal Cycle
The Cardinal Cycle is a scientific table that shows how aspects are interconnected, but also the linearity between the aspects.

Tech decays into Nature, so without sufficient effort, societies recede into primitivity.

Nature decays into Trash, so without sufficient health, nature falls into rot.

Trash decays into Wickedness, so without sufficient separation, trash will spark corruption.

Finally, Wickedness decays into Tech, and so without heroes, power falls in the hands of evil.

Outside of this cycle, Ascended elements may decay into base elements (as ascended elements are focused versions of base elements.), and Ultimate elements may very infrequently decay into Ascension elements (as they are in turn, focused versions of those). The time it takes for ascended and ultimate elements to decay is based entirely on the power of that specific element.

Associations between Base and Aspect
The Aspects and the Classes of elements have a sort of correspondence between them.

Fire corresponds to Wickedness, as it selfishly spreads everywhere consuming things for itself.

Air corresponds to Nature, as it selflessly spreads everywhere, feeding life, and even feeding fire.

Earth corresponds to Trash, as it stagnates motionlessly by default, and, if brought in motion, lumbers forward ponderously without flexibility.

Water corresponds to Tech, as it flows and adapts to its surroundings, always progressing.

Energy corresponds to Ascension, as it allows some things to be stronger than others.

Bo corresponds to Ultimation, as it allows for the formation of sentient and intelligent creatures that can rule over the world.

Partly because of this, Earth, Water, Fire, and Air are also called the Cardinal Classes or Cardinal Bases; and Energy and Bo are also called the Aetheric Classes or Aetheric Bases.

Furthermore, the classes also have cardinal directions related to them, which are reflected in Dwaia’s cubal geography.

Fire is associated with the South, as the sun Japaleno lies to the South, heating up that area of the planet with its spiciness field.

Air is associated with the North, due to the fierce winds of the icy Northern hemicube.

Water is associated with the West, as the moon Eggo lies to the West, pulling all the water towards it with its sponge field.

Earth is associated with the East, due to the Eastern drought that results from all the water being pulled toward the West.

Bo is associated with the Zenith, as the population of intelligent species on the “top” of Dwaia is quite evident.

Energy is associated with the Nadir, as the mysterious “bottom” of Dwaia is thought of as magical, and arcane.

Overview

Elements are the indivisible parts from which the universe of Dwaia is built.
The elements are fundamental. Thus the Harambe Equivalence Constant or HEC (The number of Harambes in existence minus the number of anti-Harambes) is, as its name expresses, a constant. This is called the Principle of Equivalent Exchange.

All things on Dwaia are composed of elements, including all life. Weaker entities usually have basic elements, while stronger, more ascended entities contain (or are themselves) advanced elements.

Source of the elements

Given the notion of fundamentality and the Principle of Equivalent Exchange, Science generally accepts that the elements are primordial. However, alternative theories are a common theme in religion. One example is the Cult of 8, in which it's believed that all elements are constantly generated by structures known as Spires that are made from the ultimate-aspected forms. They exude an energy over their respective face of Dwaia based on that element, giving each face of Dwaia its distinctive environment. However, all falsifiable attempts to observe a spire have failed, and they remain documented only by word-of-mouth in the testimonies of cult members.

Base elements

There are 6 Base Elements: Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Energy and Bo. Earth is the base for all that is solid and fundamental. Water is the base for all that is greatly flexible and liquid. Air is the base for gases, fumes, and invisible force. Fire is the base for spicy and also glowy things. Energy is the source of motion and change. Bo is the source of sentience and free will. All of these classes combine and interact to form life and the world.

Many low-level creatures and objects are made of just the Base elements. Since low-level things make up the majority of all things, these elements are very important, though they're rarely as powerful as their modified forms.

Element relations

Each element has several associations, or what could be thought of as characteristics. Some are described later on this page, such as Aspects and personality traits.
All relations of all 6 base elements are listed here in the following table.

Aspects

An Aspect is a primordial substance which near-solely exists to modify an element, decaying otherwise. Aspects were once thought to ignore the Principle of Equivalent Exchange, having been observed to spontaneously both decay and form to and from pure light. However, it was later discovered that the rate at which Aspects form from light is directly determined by the amount of Aspects already present in the world. It has also been shown that the relative intensity of light on a particular location only affects the likelihood of an Aspect's location to be there when it forms, and that the local intensity of light has no bearing on its actual chance to form.

Bonding

Any base element can bond with any Aspect, altering that element's fundamental properties. Each element has room to bond with exactly one aspect, so that the ratio of elements to aspects within any compound can never exceed 1:1. Aspects hardly exist outside of being a quality of elements, since their desire to bond makes them highly reactive. Furthermore, any aspect which does not bond with an element in due time will undergo fundamental decay and dissolve into pure light.

Notation and nomenclature

There are two major systems for notating the elements. The first is a newer, unified science-based system, which is widely preferred in the studies; The other is much older, formed alongside the original elemental science: alchemy. The latter system is known as alchemical or traditional notation, and is no longer used in science or in the actual practice of alchemy. However, traditional notation remains in use in less rigorous contexts, such as in representing the planes of Dwaia.

Scientific notation

To get the scientific symbol for an element, affix the symbol of its Base element with the symbol of its row (its Aspect). For example, the symbol for Pomf is Ae⧺ (pronounced variously as "air ascended" "ayy plus plus" or "ayy peepee"), because it lies in the Ascended row and on the Air column.
The symbols have the following pronunciations:

Element Symbol Pronunciations
Te earth, tay, terra, toe (rare accent)
Aq water, ack, aqua, moist
Ae air, ayy, aer, wind, breeze
Ig fire, igg, ignis, blaze, phoenix (archaic)
Qu energy, cue, quint, quintessentia, quintessence
Bo bo
Aspect Symbol Pronunciations
plus plus, double plus, peepee, ascended, ass
dagger, spookified, spook, death, cross
harp, naturalized, nature, nat, life
down, regressed, trashified, trash
up, progressed, technolized, tech
sharp, ultimate, ulti, pound, hash, octothorpe

Traditional (alchemical) notation

Originally, dealings in elemental affairs were documented with logographs — symbols that depict each of the elements visually. The traditional symbols have long since become heavily stylized over time, with the original pictures having been lost to history.
The six symbols as they appear today are as follows:

Bo

is the element that allows entities to be sentient. All sentient entities contain some bo, but some frequently used examples are:

Energy

is the element that connects all the others such that they can combine to form the universe. Energy element entities include:

Water

is one of the most basic elements on Dwaia, it is very moist and dank. Water element entities include:
